Daily Progress #1

So, today was a day for cleaning up the stables. Cleaned up 200 warnings from compiler output, still 200 remained, all from components that I use. Sometimes I think I'm the only person who is bothered with this (happily, it's not true). Removed unnecessary items from SVN repository and project folder, now almost everything is in correct order.
Improved PDF output speed and unicode support a little bit. WebHelp search bugs fixed. Update will be available on Friday.

Daily Postings From Today

I decided to post "daily reports" from today. I used to write this kind of reports for myself for some time now and it was very useful. Now I want it to become even more useful with social feedback and as it always happens on the "internets", a lot of criticism. I'm a kind of person that gets driven by criticism, I get inspiration from it. So if you have something to say - say it. Here or on Twitter or GooglePlus.

New “New Project” Dialog

Old “New Project” dialog was ugly and not generally usable (template selection was very poor, for example) so version 3.6.2 will have redesigned “New Project”. It will allow to:

  1. Add several languages
  2. Add several topics and keyword with hierarchy
  3. Add images from files and create topics for each one of them
  4. Select CHM/Web Help  templates and PDF/RTF templates with preview

Welcome Screen

From the very beginning Helpinator had now welcome screen. Just default empty project and that’s all. Now I think it’s the right time to add one because:

1. Options for quick project prototyping are spread across different toolbars/menus where they belong corresponding to object type.

2. There are important things to read and tutorials available and they have to be easily accessible by novice users.

So I made one. Not quite satisfied with the way it looks, I’ll try two-column layout later, but… Feedback is welcome.
